As a Detention Youth Worker (Courts), you will be responsible for making sure young people are kept safe and well while they are in the cells area of the Brisbane Courts Precinct.
You Will Be Someone Who
- encourages young people to make good decisions by promoting and reinforcing positive behaviour to help them integrate back into the community.
- helps young people understand court outcomes and follow the rules of the cells area of the Brisbane Courts Precinct.
- a young person can go to if they need someone to talk to.
- can deliver activities that are sensitive to gender, cultural beliefs, and health needs.
- conducts regular observations, welfare checks and searches on young people and reports concerns or issues in accordance with policy.
- oversees young people's release from custody in accordance with the court's decision and legal documentation.
This role is designated as regulated employment as the position provides support services to children and young people, and therefore will require a valid Blue Card to be linked with the organisation prior to starting.
