Are you highly experienced in building capability in others and working towards a continuously improving safety culture?
Central Highlands Regional Council has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Safety Services & Compliance Officer to join the team based in Emerald.
In this newly created role we are looking for a well-developed safety specialist with a strong analytical and detailed orientated mindset and a proactive approach to risk management. You will be responsible for coordinating the scheduling and review of compliance testing of safety services and facilities, and assisting the organisation in managing its emergency and evacuation preparedness. You will play a key role in ensuring the organisation meets legislative, regulatory, and internal safety requirements working closely with both internal and external stakeholders.
Your technical expertise coupled with the ability to build professional and effective working relationships will be highly regarded.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess:
- Qualifications in Work Health & Safety or related discipline.
- Minimum of Queensland C class provisional drivers’ licence.
- General Construction Industry Card.
- Comprehensive knowledge of and experience in the interpretation and application of Work Health & Safety Act 2011, Regulations 2011.
- Demonstrated experience in providing and arranging first response evacuation instruction, and evacuation coordination instructions.
- Demonstrated experience implementing safety processes and initiatives which have improved safety performance.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and reviewing safety management systems documents, specifically safe operating procedures and safe work method statements.
- Experience in supporting contractors to deliver safe work practices, and supporting contract owners in understanding the responsibilities.
- Demonstrated skills in dealing confidently, courteously, tactfully, and diplomatically to all levels within the organisation, along with high-level interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated capability in building an effective and proactive safety culture, delivering high satisfaction and quality partnerships.
- Well-developed team-work skills and the ability to build positive working relationships across the organisation.
- Ability to compose and present procedures, reports and correspondence.
- Proficient keyboard skills and experience using Microsoft Office Suite and corporate business systems.
- High level organisation and coordination skills, with specific attention to detail to ensure compliance with legislative and best practice requirements
