u&u are proud to be exclusively partnering with an ASX listed fund manager on the appointment of their Chief Operating Officer. Our client has been proudly providing investment solutions to a wide range of investor needs for over 20 years.
The Chief Operating Officer plays a critical role in ensuring the operational efficiency and effectiveness of administration and client servicing (including the Claims Handling function), investment operations and human resources across the business. This position involves aligning operational strategies with business goals and plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing the company's operational strategy.
What are the key duties?
- Responsible for management and control of the business’ operations division, ensuring alignment with business objectives, operational efficiencies, and regulatory compliance;
- Delivering business continuity plans and recommending business continuity strategies for operations;
- Delivering and monitoring operations controls, frameworks, policies and reporting;
- Senior executive responsibility for management of the business’ claims handling function;
- Senior executive responsibility for management or control of a significant or substantial part or aspect of the operations of the accountable entity;
- Monitoring, managing, reviewing and approving fund operations expenditure;
- Monitoring and delivering projects relating to operational efficiency optimisation;
- Monitoring fund operations compliance with the board-approved risk appetite;
- Escalating fund operations material risk issues (financial and non-financial) to the CEO and Board, and recommending mitigating strategies in response to material risk issues; and
- Responsible for managing the human resources function for the accountable entity within the fund.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field;
- At least 15 years of experience in operational and fund management roles within the fund management industry;
- Experience acting as an Accountable Entity under the Financial Accountability Regime (FAR);
- Demonstrated experience in managing operational change, efficiency and system integration;
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory frameworks affecting fund operations, including RG 97 and RG 274;
- Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee complex operational projects;
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organisation;
- A proven track record of driving operational excellence and achieving business outcomes;
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; and
- Results-driven, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise effectively.
