Description:
Your role:
A Gap Year in the Army gives you an exciting taste of life in the ADF with just one year’s commitment. You’ll get paid for meaningful work, receive full Army training, and enjoy memorable experiences – unlike anything you’d encounter in a regular gap year.
In your Army Supply Chain Gap Year, you’ll play a key role in delivering supplies to the right location at the right time and ensure that soldiers have the food, equipment, ammunition and fuel they need to complete their mission.
Your 12-month experience is divided into stages. First, you’ll get paid to learn the military and job-specific skills you need for your role. Then you’ll post to a unit to apply your newly learned skills and may have opportunities to travel around Australia to take part in domestic exercises and operations. Plus, you'll be supported by professional and enthusiastic Army personnel throughout your experience.
After finishing your Gap Year program, you can choose to continue a career in the Army or you can use your new skills and experiences in future careers outside the ADF.
Your duties may include working as a:
- Ammunition Supplier – play an integral role in supporting troops and commanders, ensuring ammunition and explosive ordnance is managed and delivered to the correct locations in a safe and usable manner
- Fuel Specialist – manage and distribute fuel and lubricant supplies, and carry out the refueling, in this action-packed role that keeps trucks, tanks and helicopters operational
- Warehouse Coordinator – keep the Army moving in this crucial logistics role, handling the receipt, storage and delivery of military equipment and supplies for operations in any environment.
