You will perform scientific analyses in the multi-disciplinary areas of Transfusion Medicine, Haematology, Chemical Pathology, and Microbiology in a continuous shift rostering arrangement (laboratory operates 24-hours a day, 7 days a week).
What you'll do
- Apply independent scientific judgement in the analysis of patient specimens leading to the verification and validation of test results and the provision of advice to the clinical unit where appropriate.
- Undertake diagnostic testing and related duties following Pathology Queensland established accredited protocols and standards within a multidisciplinary team in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
- Participate in continuous shift work on a 24-hour rostering arrangement, including weekends and Public Holidays.
- Initiate and/or contribute to the development of scientific practices, procedures, protocols, and research activities within a multi-specialist work area that support the continuum of care engaging cross-discipline referencing where relevant.
- Apply high level knowledge, skills, and experience to multi-specialist duties within the work unit with minimal clinical practice supervision out of hours.
About you
We are searching for someone who:
- Demonstrated knowledge, expertise and skill in the provision of diagnostic testing and clinical interpretation of results within a multi-disciplinary laboratory.
- Demonstrated ability to participate in a multidisciplinary team and contribute a range of diagnostic skills relevant to the discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to apply established principles to a multidiscipline service with provision of results and clinical advice in a client focused manner.
- The successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in Medical Laboratory Science from a recognised university or tertiary institution.
