About the role
By becoming a prison officer at Melbourne Assessment Prison (MAP), you will have the opportunity to work across various locations including the County and Supreme Courts and St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne in the CBD. MAP and Courts offer different roster types which allows a degree of flexibility and work-life balance.

As a prison officer, you will support the rehabilitation of people in custody and help maintain the safety and security of the facility. Most people in custody return to the community, and the focus of a prison officer is to create opportunities for them to make better decisions.

$5,000 sign-on bonus
New prison officers at MAP are now eligible for a bonus of up to $5,000. Six months after commencing, you will receive a payment of $2,500. Then, after one year's full-time employment, you will receive an additional payment of $2,500. Conditions apply, see website for details.
About MAP
Metropolitan Assessment Prison is a maximum-security prison located near Southern Cross Station in Melbourne's CBD. MAP provides the primary state-wide assessment and orientation services for men received into the prison system. It also manages people in custody attending other locations such as Courts, St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne, the Adult Patrol Board and the Post Sentence Authority.
