Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA)

We are on our path towards becoming the Commonwealths “Strategic Shipbuilder” in the West, aiming to be in contract for the Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA). Join us for this exciting opportunity to be part of continuous naval shipbuilding, contributing and significant work for the Australian Defence Force.
The SSA will establish an overarching program which enables the design and build of vessels at the Henderson Shipyard. The objective of the SSA is to possess the capacity and capability to initially deliver Landing Craft Medium & Heavy for the Australian Army in supporting continuous naval shipbuilding in WA.
The SSA is about establishing the capability within the Henderson Precinct, and Western Australia, to continuously build vessels for the Commonwealth. It will be led by Austal, and will require the engagement of local industry, supply chain and workforce to be successful.

About The Opportunity
The Project Coordinator is a key position within the Transformation team working on the SSA. This role provides essential administrative, project and general support to ensure timely performance against program objectives and compliance with company and customer requirements. The Project Coordinator will work closely with the SSA Transformation team, as well as Workstream Leaders and Project Managers across the broader Austal business to deliver on the Capability Objectives of the SSA.
What’s Involved
- Support the Transformation team in monitoring project progress and performance and provide updates to internal and external stakeholders.
- Update reports and dashboard key project/program metrics.
- Measure and report on project performance.
- Monitor project progress and create status reports for project managers and stakeholders.
- Prioritise and achieve daily and weekly tasks.
- Assist the team with general administration duties
- Foster cross-team collaboration to help project team members complete tasks and produce deliverables.
- Execute project management administrative tasks such as managing invoices, purchase orders, and inventory reports, among other financial documents.
- Perform ad hoc tasks as required to support the Transformation team.
- Ensure systems are maintained and up to date.
- Prepare and approve project documentation in a timely manner.
- Assist team members in implementing risk management strategies.
- Manage the risk register (not as a risk owner) by ensuring owners make requisite updates in accordance with SSA RMF and link these to WBS and other reporting.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans, and reports in line with Austal standards and project requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in business administration, management, or a related field.
- Practical experience and knowledge relevant to the outlined duties.
- Working knowledge of project management software and proficiency with Excel and Word.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to interact and communicate positively and professionally.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines while managing multiple tasks/projects.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, with a proven track record of high-quality output.
- Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
