The Manager, Responsible Procurement reports to and supports the Portfolio Manager, Responsible Procurement to embed responsible procurement into Group procurement and supplier management practices across the Group. This role suits a highly analytical and strategic thinker who thrives in complexity, is comfortable navigating data-driven environments, and has an interest in sustainability and broader supply chain challenges.
This Role Will
Working closely with the Portfolio Manager Responsible Procurement and Head of Procurement, lead the development and implementation of responsible procurement strategies and broader procurement initiatives including:
- Strategy and Analysis: Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses to inform strategic procurement decisions and identify opportunities to deliver on sustainability and commercial objectives.
- ESG and Sustainability: Develop and implement procurement policies and frameworks aligned to the Qantas Group’s priorities, enabling the Group to achieve its ESG commitments including, for example, emissions, sustainable fuel, circular economy and waste management commitments.
- Scope 3 Emissions: Support strategies and drive initiatives targeting Scope 3 emissions, ensuring robust measurement, management, and reporting across the Group’s supply chain.
- Procurement Innovation: Identify and deliver initiatives that leverage data, technology, and innovation to drive continuous improvement across procurement processes and practices.
- Supplier Diversity: Develop and lead initiatives that foster diverse supplier partnerships and promote commercial engagements with suppliers owned or led by underrepresented groups with an emphasis on First Nations businesses and communities.
- Metrics and Reporting: Establish frameworks and metrics to measure, monitor, and report on supplier performance, capabilities, and ESG impacts, and provide strategic insights for senior management.
- Emerging Priorities: Evaluate and proactively respond to emerging trends and opportunities, providing thought leadership on industry developments, risk mitigation strategies, and broader procurement practices. Provide strategic and technical advice to support the Qantas Group’s policy and industry advocacy efforts.
- Value Creation: Identify and develop opportunities across Qantas Group’s supply chain, build strong business cases, and present compelling recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- An interest in sustainability and sustainable supply chain management, and a strong appreciation for the importance of sustainability for airlines and large corporates.
- 5+ years’ experience in a leading consulting or professional services firm, or within a strategy, analytical or commercial function in a corporate environment.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in a business, economics, law, engineering, economics, supply chain or a related analytical field.
- Proven strategic thinking, analytical capability, and the ability to influence outcomes in complex and data-driven environments.
- Exceptional quantitative analysis skills, and the ability to synthesise data and insights into clear strategic recommendations and compelling business cases.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects or programs, with a proven track record in tracking, monitoring, and delivering strategic outcomes efficiently and effectively.
- A highly structured approach to problem solving with strong adaptability and resilience when faced with complex and dynamic challenges.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative and team-orientated approach to building trusted relationships across diverse stakeholder groups, both internal and external.
