We are not an average retailer and this is definitely not your average finance position. We are currently looking for a highly analytical, creative and forward-thinking Senior Financial Analyst to join our team in Sydney or Melbourne, Australia.

The Senior Financial Analyst/business partner will support the rapid growth of the Amazon Australia business by providing financial oversight and controllership on a wide range of Inbound logistics programs (Imports, Inbound and Inventory placement), and how those contribute to our businesses’ bottom-line profitability.

Core role activities will include modelling, budgeting, reporting, auditing, business case development and advising senior leadership on the best financial directions to take.

Key job responsibilities
• Partner with our Retail, Cross Border, Merchant fulfilled network and Fulfilled By Amazon business teams to manage costs and influence decision making that impacts our businesses’ bottom-line profitability
• Partner and liaise with all business channel teams and Supply Chain to launch new Inbound programs aimed at driving process improvements and cost savings for optimal inventory placement and movements
• Work with key stakeholders to determine key performance indicators, regular business metrics and monitor progress towards goals
• Preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly results including variance analysis versus plan and forecast risks and opportunities
• Month end close responsibilities including working with our Accounting team on financial treatment of transactions
• Development of BI reports and provision of action-orientated analytics to support stakeholders with commercial decision support
• Proactively work with the business owners on root cause analyses and solution implementation to optimise our network to drive cost outs and improve efficiencies
• Improve tools, processes, scale existing solutions, create new solutions as required based on stakeholder needs

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)
- Experience in financial modeling, P&L management or analysis
- 4+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience
- 4+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience
- Experience with cube engine tools (e.g. TM1, Cognos or Essbase), SQL and Data warehouse
- Experience working with stakeholders- MBA, or CPA
- 4+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
