Are you passionate about the environment and the natural resources that it provides? Do you love the magic of storytelling and inspiring others to take positive action for healthy natural landscapes that support communities and industries, while ensuring there are wild places for native fauna and flora? We are seeking a Senior Communications Officer to be part of a creative team that promotes the work of the landscape board and builds connection with our regional communities.

This role is advertised at ASO5 and ASO6 level and will be filled according to the successful candidate’s experience and knowledge.

As the Senior Communications Officer, you will:

  • Provide strategic advice in the promotion of the landscape board and its work to increase community awareness and participation, using best practice communications, engagement and marketing practices.
  • Provide high quality advice and support to staff and project partners of the landscape board through expertly crafted traditional and innovative communications and engagement activities.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Communications team to ensure that resources (human and budgetary) are effectively applied to deliver the work required, and a positive team culture is maintained in accordance with the landscape boards goals.
  • Provide expert advice to ensure that the profile and reputation of the landscape board is enhanced by engaging with regional media outlets on good news stories, public consultations and topics of media interest.
  • Be responsible for the management of the digital profile of the landscape board, ensuring enhanced opportunities for online community engagement is increased through development, maintenance of the regional website, Flow online engagement platform, and social media channels.
  • Contribute to a safe workplace by accepting responsibility for own and others’ safety, identifying and reporting hazards, and leading and participating in workplace safety procedures and programs. (supervisor role).

We’re looking for someone who can:

  • Develop and implement best practice communications, engagement and marketing plans with a focus on IAP2 principles and understanding the needs of different target audiences.
  • Understand the policies and procedures that direct communications within a government setting and has ability to advise staff about how they must be applied.
  • Create engaging content for a broad range of audiences and channels.
  • Provide communications, engagement and marketing services in complex and sometime politically sensitive environments.
  • Use content management systems to edit and publish high-quality effective content across a variety of digital platforms.
  • write clearly and effectively for a range of audiences and channels, apply writing style guides, and can transfer complex scientific information into simple messaging that is easy to comprehend.
  • Lead and coordinate projects and programs in line with organisational goals, including development, implementation, evaluation/review and improvement.
  • Lead, develop and enhance the performance of individual staff and teams.

Contract:

Contract for up to 2 years.

Remuneration:

CLASSIFICATION ASO5 $85,790 min - $95,413 max p.a. or ASO6 $98,478 to $104,165 max p.a
