With a focus on customer service, CBS’s functional areas include Births, Deaths and Marriages, Liquor, Gambling and Lotteries, Tobacco and Vaping, Businesses, Consumers, Renting and Letting, and Associations, Charities and Cooperatives.
The Manager, Assessments is a critical role within the Compliance and Enforcement Branch responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of and leading a team of Compliance Officers and Assessment Officers in the provision of efficient and effective registration, legal assessment and determination of complaints lodged with CBS relating to breaches across some 40 pieces of legislation.
A key leadership appointment, the Manager, Assessments is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced legal professional to apply your expertise on complex consumer and trade matters including statutory interpretation, legal analysis, legal research and advice. Offering significant professional independence, the Manager, Assessment works under the broad direction of the Director, Regulation and Advice where the ability to exercise sound judgement in the determination of complex matters and compliance with government and agency policies, standards and guidelines is paramount, as is the ability to engage effectively with key stakeholders including consumers, traders/agents and the Crown Solicitor’s Office.

It is also expected that you will have strong leadership capabilities including a demonstrable track record of leading the performance of a diverse team and contributing at a strategic level in developing strategies and programs aligned to organisational goals and priorities.
This is a unique and challenging yet exciting and professionally rewarding opportunity that will ultimately see you directly influencing the regulation of multiple important industries in a way that protects the safety of, and improves outcomes for, South Australians.
