What You'll Be Doing
Working between both Tumut Hospital & Batlow-Adelong MPS, as a GP VMO , you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a range of general practice services, ensuring that care is safe, effective, and evidence-based. You will play a pivotal role in delivering comprehensive medical services to the local community.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Providing admitting, consultative, diagnostic, procedural, outpatient, telehealth, and on-call services as required by MLHD.
- Being available during rostered hours and on-call, including clinical handovers, supervision, teaching, and emergency and routine care.
- Offering education and support to clinicians across multiple disciplines, promoting quality education and safe clinical practice.
The Tumut Health Service provides a full range of community health services are available including community nursing, allied health and mental health services.
The Batlow-Adelong Multipurpose Service provides a 24-hour accident and emergency and is a 24-bed facility with 5 hospital care beds and 19 residential aged care beds.

Selection Criteria
- A primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the RACGP/ ACRRM/RACP and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
- Minimum three (3) years post graduate clinical experience. Previous experience in Emergency Medicine, General Practice, Adult Internal Medicine, Paediatrics or Rural Medicine an advantage.
- Knowledge of contemporary clinical management and modern approaches in assessment and management of the broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions. Competence in performing the range of minor urgent procedures commonly undertaken in a rural emergency department including Advanced Life Support and Trauma management
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, and research and quality improvement.
- Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
- Demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health CORE values and MLHD Values, goals and strategies.
