Fairview Heights State School are seeking a dedicated & reliable Cleaner to join our team.

You will play a vital role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. You will be an enthusiastic person, who takes initiative & pride in your work.

The successful applicant/s will be engaged in single or split shifts. The start and finish times will vary, which could be between 4.00am and 6:00pm. If the successful applicant(s) are engaged in split shift arrangement, a split shift allowance will be paid each day a split shift is worked.

This position is offered on a permanent part-time basis at 60 hours and 0.79 FTE per fortnight.

Fairview Heights State School is located in the north-western outskirts of Toowoomba on 6 hectares of beautifully landscaped grounds. Established in 1995, the school caters for students from prep to year 6 including our Special Education Unit.

About The Role

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • The role involves a variety of cleaning and maintenance duties aimed at ensuring a clean and safe school environment. Responsibilities include cleaning windows, doors, sinks, drinking fountains, lavatory basins, glassware, and cupboards, as well as sanitising toilet facilities and sick bays. It also includes maintaining equipment, controlling cobwebs and mildew using extendable tools, and cleaning various surfaces such as concrete, bitumen, asphalt, and paved areas. Other cleaning tasks include dusting furniture and equipment, sweeping, vacuuming, removing graffiti, and maintaining vinyl and timber floors, including buffing, stripping, and polishing.
  • Security-related tasks include activating and deactivating school security systems, and locking or unlocking buildings as needed. The role also involves liaising with the Principal or Business Manager regarding the purchase and replacement of cleaning materials. Additionally, the person in this role will report security, safety, or damage concerns to the Principal, Business Manager, or Schools Officer (Facilities and/or Grounds) and refer members of the public to the relevant school personnel.
  • Other duties include the disposal of rubbish and litter control, removal of materials from drains and gutters, and performing any other appropriate cleaning tasks as directed by the Principal or Business Manager. The position may require taking on additional suitable responsibilities consistent with the role, as directed by the supervisor or nominated delegate.
