About the School of Engineering, Design & Built Environment
The School of Engineering, Design & Built Environment is a dynamic, forward-thinking faculty within the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Cluster. Operating across Penrith, Parramatta South, and Parramatta City campuses, the School is globally recognised for its research and industry connections, including the Centre for Infrastructure Engineering, the Centre for Smart Modern Construction, and the Centre for Advanced Manufacturing Technology.
The School consists of 4 disciplines, including Architecture, Industrial Design, Construction Management, and Engineering (including Civil & Construction Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, and Mechanical & Mechatronic Engineering). About the Opportunity
We are seeking an Associate Lecturer to join our expanding academic team and contribute to teaching, research, and curriculum development in one of the following disciplines:
- Architecture

As an Associate Lecturer, you will engage in a range of academic activities, including:
Teaching & Curriculum Development – Design and deliver innovative undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Research & Scholarship – Develop your research portfolio and contribute to the School’s academic excellence. Student Mentorship & Supervision – Supervise and guide Honours, Masters, and PhD students in their academic journey. Industry & Community Engagement – Foster partnerships that enhance learning and research outcomes. Governance & Service – Contribute to the broader academic initiatives of the School.To be successful in the role, you will need to demonstrate excellence in teaching and a high level of energy and commitment to further developing a research profile that is fresh and relevant to the particular discipline.
This is a full-time, ongoing position based at Western’s Parramatta City, Parramatta South of Penrith Campus, in alignment with the location of the relevant discipline. Please note that travel to other campuses of the University may be required.
About You
We are looking for individuals who bring energy, enthusiasm, and a commitment to delivering high-quality teaching. The ideal candidate will be an academic with considerable relevant experience, demonstrating knowledge and expertise in current and emerging interdisciplinary content applicable to teaching and research in the relevant discipline. You will be well-versed in both the local context and international cutting-edge design practice.
Eligibility
Successful candidates will be subject to a two-year confirmation period and must provide evidence at the time of application that they:
are an Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander person; and hold a Masters degree or demonstrated substantial completion towards completion of a higher qualification in a relevant area aligned with one of the 4 disciplines in the School; and have not previously held an ongoing position with an Australian Higher Education provider in the previous 3 years.Candidates must submit evidence of the above requirements and any evidence they have of successful teaching results, such as Student Feedback on Teaching survey outcomes, at the time of application.

Remuneration Package: Academic Level A $112,718 to $136,180 p.a. (comprising Salary of $95,248 to $115,074 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading).
