The Role
The Australian Defence Force offers more than 150 different jobs, some of which are considered particularly complex and/or high risk from a psychological standpoint, including roles in Aviation, Intelligence, Cyber Warfare, Submarine Warfare, and Special Forces. Applicants for these complex roles undergo targeted psychological assessments as part of their selection process.

This position is responsible for the management of incoming data arising from psychological testing and mental health screening activities. Responsibilities include manual data entry, scanning, validation, receipting, and the quality assurance of these materials.

The incumbent will utilise their strong computer literacy and organisational skills to manage data, respond to stakeholder inquiries, draft documentation, and provide support to the Data Management team and the broader Directorate. This position will contribute to the development and delivery of data products that adhere to quality systems, procedures, standards and legislative requirements. The incumbent will build effective relationships with the Directorate of Psychology, and other teams to provide support and contribute to achieving data-related objectives.

About our Team
The Data Management Systems team develops and maintains a range of ICT systems and applications designed to facilitate the collection and management of psychology-related data arising from Occupational Suitability Assessments (OSA) and Mental Health Surveillance activities.

This data enables the validation and evaluation of policies, procedures and standards that underpin the conduct of the OSA psychology assessment, and the conduct of post-operational mental health surveillance.

These functions are integral to the Australian Defence Force's (ADF) ability to optimise its human capability through effective recruitment and management, by (a) ensuring those we recruit are a good 'fit' with both the ADF and their preferred occupation, and (b) contributing to the ADF's ability to manage the mental health and wellbeing of ADF members appropriately.

We offer flexible, family-friendly working arrangements with opportunities for part-time and home-based work. We are committed to the personal and professional development of our staff, and welcome interested candidates to apply to join our team.

Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • Experience in data management, including data entry, data cleaning and data validation, with an understanding of data management principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in data interrogation tools such as Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail, including the ability to identify and correct errors in data.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain and document technical data concepts.
  • Initiative to develop solutions to improve data management processes.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
