This role is offered on a temporary part-time basis at 0.40 FTE and 33 hours per fortnight, until 30 December 2026, unless otherwise determined.

About Chinchilla State High School
Chinchilla State High School is an integral part of the community and its traditions and history is firmly embedded in the culture of the area. Generations of the same family have attended the school and they value education and community involvement in the school. Students come to the high school from six feeder primary schools, including two independent schools. Most students from these schools transition to Chinchilla State High School.
Approximately 570 students attend Chinchilla state High School in Years 7-12. Roughly 50% of the student body are from the surrounding rural areas, while the other half live in town. Due to the presence of gas and mining industries in the area, the school is enrolling an increasing number of international students and students from coastal areas.

Chinchilla State High School aims for every student to succeed at school. However, some children and young people experience barriers to successful participation. Risk of disengagement can happen at any phase of secondary education. Timely and skilled interventions can support many students to get back on track.
The range of activities undertaken by the Youth Support Coordinator at Chinchilla State High School include:
- Interagency collaboration and community engagement through attendance at community meetings and networking with local services
- Identification of students at risk of disengaging
- Case management on individual level and participation in Student Support and Wellbeing Teams
- Development and facilitation of lunchtime programs (lunch and breakfast club) responsive student needs
- Development and facilitation of social skills and other Student Support Programs responsive to student needs and school data
- Being an active part of the school and wider community.
