About the role
SA Pathology is seeking an inspiring and forward-thinking leader to join us as the Head of the Genomics Unit . In this pivotal role, you will provide strategic direction and expert oversight in the delivery of high-quality genomic testing services, playing a key role in advancing precision medicine. You'll be responsible for integrating emerging technologies and best practice approaches into diagnostic workflows while ensuring ongoing compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

This role will see you optimising laboratory operations, resource allocation, and workforce capability to meet evolving clinical needs. With a strong focus on enhancing patient outcomes and supporting cutting-edge research, this is a unique opportunity to lead a unit at the forefront of genomic diagnostics in South Australia.
About You
You’re an experienced and strategic leader in genomics with a passion for innovation, collaboration, and delivering high-quality diagnostic services. To succeed in this role, you will bring:

Extensive expertise in genomics and molecular diagnostics , including next-generation sequencing (NGS), PCR, MLPA, and bioinformatics, along with experience in clinical reporting, quality systems, and regulatory compliance

Proven leadership and people management skills , with the ability to motivate teams, manage performance, implement service improvements, and support staff development through education and mentoring

Highly developed analytical, problem-solving and communication abilities , with a demonstrated capacity to interpret complex genomic data, provide clinical insights, and drive evidence-based decision-making

Strong organisational, financial, and change management capabilities , with knowledge of public administration principles, budget control, WHS, EEO, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement
