About The Role
- Assist with the development and implement project plans, and lead and coordinate staff and contractors to undertake risk management and state land maintenance activities.
- Management of the natural and cultural heritage values of state land.
- Assume a lead role in developing and maintaining positive working relationships with Traditional owners and other stakeholders in relation to state land management activities.
- Monitor the schedule of fire management plans and projects to ensure that the planned outcomes and targets are met.
- Action emergency response procedures, including natural disaster contingency plans, wildfire response procedures and participate in multi-disciplinary incident management teams.
- Perform and assist others in public contact duties, including responding to enquiries and providing advice regarding risk management activities on State land to neighbouring stakeholders, special interest groups and others.
- Liaise and consult with other agencies in the coordination of fire and pest management including risk assessment and develop project plans and coordinate implementation for approved activities.
- Monitor compliance issues on State land and assist other staff as required.
- Participate in and contribute to an effective team environment.
- Current manual driver's license and ability to drive on dirt/sand roads in remote areas.
- Willing and able to travel/stay overnight in rural areas, including outside normal hours.
- Experience in hazard reduction burning, herbicide application, and chainsaw operations with relevant accreditations.
- Proficiency in using digital tools, including Geographic Information Systems.
