Description:

Sedgman is in the process of recruiting for a Materials Handling Designer to join our team in Perth. To allow us to meet the upcoming workload the team is looking at innovative ways to improve our efficiency in design whilst maintaining the right outcomes for our projects and clients. We are currently seeking an experienced Materials Handling Designer to join our team.

What does this role involve?

  • Materials handling facility layouts including conveyors, equipment and platework, 3D modelling and detailed engineering drawings from conceptual sketches through to detailed design, under the direction of Lead Drafter or Lead Engineer
  • Contribute technical and design assistance to provide engineering design solutions in consultation with Lead Drafter or Lead Engineer
  • Demonstrate high standard of personal safety and safe design practices
  • Ensure drafting and review processes are completed. Review drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with Sedgman Standards. Execute checking of design drawings and participate in squad checks as directed
  • Ensure project time and cost are met - monitor effectiveness of designs, scheduling of work, resource requirements and review compliance with project execution plan (schedule) and client expectations.
  • Support the continuous improvement of design systems used by the organisation and investigate new drafting techniques and drafting equipment and recommend changes to standard practices

What are we looking for in our future team member?

  • Effective team player
  • Ability to liaise with other disciplines within the organisation
  • Engineering Advanced diploma/Associate degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 5years’ experience in design/consultancy/operational environment
  • 3D modelling using AutoCAD, Advance Steel, Inventor, Navisworks, or similar package experience
  • Mining and heavy industry experience would be highly advantageous
