Position Purpose
The Director of Sport will lead the strategic and operational development of the co-curricular sport program for Years 7 to 12. With a focus on promoting both enjoyment and excellence in sport, this role ensures all students are encouraged to participate in sport for its health benefits while fostering a culture of competitive achievement. The Director will also work closely with Junior School sports programs to maintain a holistic approach to student engagement in physical activity.
Reporting to the Deputy Principal – Middle and Senior School Operations, the Director of Sport leads the school’s sporting programs, ensuring their smooth operation, strategic development, and alignment with the school’s values. The role assumes overall responsibility for sport and operational priorities, including:
- Empowering coaches and coordinators
- Managing stakeholder expectations (students, coaches, and parents)
- Overseeing the Queensland Girls Secondary Schools Sporting Association (QGSSSA) sporting programs and signature sport offerings, including Brisbane Schoolgirls Rowing Association (BSRA) Rowing
- Maintaining high standards across all school sport at St Hilda’s

- Tertiary qualifications in Education with a major in Health and Physical Education, Sports Science, or Sports Management
- Proven experience leading a successful school or professional sports program, with an understanding of the all-girls school environment being advantageous
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- A professional, confident, and helpful approach
- Proficiency in using digital tools and sports management software, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Outlook)
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate (or the ability to obtain one prior to commencement)
- Exceptional ethics, discretion, and the ability to communicate sensitively and confidentially with stakeholders
