About the role:
The Attendance Directorate provides a range of system responses, service trials and supports for schools to improve student attendance. The directorate works closely with other areas in the Department and external partners to foster a whole of system approach that encourages shared responsibility for attendance.
The Social Worker, Attendance Social Work Consultation is a member of a team that provides a centralised state-wide service for all consultations and referrals to Social Work Truancy (around who work with children and young people with truancy, attendance, engagement and retention issues and their families) as well as providing advice to public education sites about attendance, engagement and other general wellbeing issues.
The Social Worker, Attendance Social Work Consultation (ASWC) undertakes consultation on a range of concerns that broadly fall within student non-attendance and general wellbeing concerns. The position supports preschools and schools to engage students who are of compulsory school age and have become disengaged from the education system.
This position works with the professional support and line management of the Senior Social Worker, Attendance Social Work Consultation.
Attendance are on a culturally response journey, as such we value and prioritise Aboriginal ways of knowing, doing and being.
Qualifications:
Essential: An appropriate degree or equivalent which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
Desirable: Nil.
Special conditions:
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration:
AHP2 $88,255 - $102,240 per annum (1.0 FTE) + superannuation (11.5%).
