  • Salary: $134,593 - $180,115 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Ongoing role, full time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne (flexibility may be available)

The Role

The Communications and Media Manager delivers innovative communications and media services that raise the profile of our key initiatives, investments, and programs, making sure our stakeholders receive the right messages, through the right channels, at the right time.

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Initiate, lead and drive the development and implementation of strategic communications, media and stakeholder engagement frameworks.
  • Provide strong leadership to the portfolio team.
  • Provide authoritative and expert communications, engagement and media advice, leadership and strategic direction.
  • Play an active role as a member of the Strategic Communications leadership team.

The Team

The position of Communications and Media Manager forms a part of the Strategic Communications branch within Corporate Services group.

This branch actively promotes the Victorian Government's role in growing our state's economy, creating jobs for Victorians, building thriving places and regions and supporting an inclusive and fairer society. Through connecting with staff, communities, business/industry and stakeholders to build awareness, inform, educate and/or change behaviour we deliver the Government's projects, initiatives and commitments.

About You

You may be assigned to any of the department's portfolios and will work on strategic communications that aim to create more opportunities for people through skills and jobs, build the productive capacity of our economy to help business and industry thrive, and create greater opportunities for Victorians to participate in the economy, the creative industries, sport and recreation.

Ideally you will have demonstrated:

  • Initiative and ability to strategically plan, prioritise effectively, set goals and high standards of performance.
  • Can deal with communications, media and stakeholder engagement concepts and high-level complexity comfortably.
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes for the department and seek ways to improve communications, media and stakeholder engagement services.
