Description:
The Senior Officer Planning and Approvals Framework Design plays a lead role in the development of the Operational Forest Management Program (OFMP) that aims to compliment the Joint Fuel Management Program (JFMP), Strategic Fuel Breaks (SFB) programs and the broader planning reform in moving towards an integrated forest and fire management planning approach. The OFMP planning environment is dynamic and advancing quickly which requires this individual to be agile and adaptable to change but able to clearly work towards a vision of intergrated forest and fire management planning.
In this role, you will build relationships and use your influence and skills in critical thinking, problem solving, project management support state, region and district teams to input and implement the OFMP.
The Senior Officer Planning and Approvals Framework Design sits in the Planning and Approvals Framework Team in the Planning and Authorisations (P&A) Branch. The Team leads the development of the planning and approvals framework for forest and fire management works, ensuring DEECA meets it legislative responsibilities under the Forests Act while complying with all other Victorian and Commonwealth legislative. The branch leads the FFOD planning reform, the forest and fuel management doctrine, planning processes, GIS spatial coordination, and planning tools.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification(s) in public policy, natural resource or environmental management or similar is desirable.
- Experience and expertise in the compliance environment, program planning and/or operations for one or more of forest/fire management, biodiversity, cultural/historic heritage or strategic/statutory planning is desirable.
This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
