Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Medication Competent Carer to join our aged care team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality personal care and support to elderly residents while administering medications safely and in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility support.
- Administer medications as per care plans, ensuring adherence to all legal and safety protocols.
- Monitor and document residents’ responses to medications, reporting any side effects or concerns to nursing staff.
- Maintain accurate records of medication administration and residents’ care plans.
- Support residents with emotional and social well-being by fostering a positive and respectful environment.
- Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and hydration management as required.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Follow infection control, workplace health, and safety procedures.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to maintain competency in medication administration and aged care practices.
- Certificate III or IV in Aged Care, Individual Support, or equivalent.
- Competency in medication administration (e.g., accredited Medication Administration Certificate).
- Previous experience in aged care or disability support is highly desirable.
- Understanding of aged care quality standards and duty of care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- National Police Check and Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) or relevant clearance (as per state requirements).
