Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Medication Competent Carer to join our aged care team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality personal care and support to elderly residents while administering medications safely and in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility support.
  • Administer medications as per care plans, ensuring adherence to all legal and safety protocols.
  • Monitor and document residents’ responses to medications, reporting any side effects or concerns to nursing staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of medication administration and residents’ care plans.
  • Support residents with emotional and social well-being by fostering a positive and respectful environment.
  • Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and hydration management as required.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Follow infection control, workplace health, and safety procedures.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to maintain competency in medication administration and aged care practices.

Requirements

  • Certificate III or IV in Aged Care, Individual Support, or equivalent.
  • Competency in medication administration (e.g., accredited Medication Administration Certificate).
  • Previous experience in aged care or disability support is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of aged care quality standards and duty of care.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • National Police Check and Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) or relevant clearance (as per state requirements).
