We are now seeking a dedicated, strategic, and future-focused midwifery academic to join our leadership team in the role of Associate Dean, Midwifery. This senior appointment provides a significant opportunity to shape the growth, direction, and visibility of midwifery education and practice within one of Australia’s leading Schools of Nursing and Midwifery.

As the Associate Dean, Midwifery, you will:

Lead the strategic direction, development, and delivery of high-quality midwifery education across undergraduate and postgraduate programs; Advocate for excellence in midwifery education, research, and practice; Build and strengthen clinical and industry partnerships to enhance student experience and workforce impact; Mentor and support academic staff across teaching, research, and service; Represent the School in key internal and external forums to elevate the profile and contribution of midwifery in healthcare and higher education; and Contribute to the School’s senior leadership team and overall strategic planning.

Appointment Information

The successful applicant will be appointed to a full-time, ongoing position as Professor of Midwifery OR as Associate Professor of Midwifery, with salary of $166,295 - $182,832 (ALEVD) / $213,161 (ALEVE) plus 17% University superannuation. Appointment to the role of Associate Dean, Midwifery is for a three-year term.

Additional Benefits Include

Associate Dean Allowance of $21,316. Generous relocation support. Visa sponsorship (if required). Flexible working arrangements may also be negotiated to meet your personal circumstances. Formal mentorship will be provided.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful applicant:

Must be registered or eligible for registration as a nurse or midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia; Will have completed a PhD; Will have completed qualifications in education and/or can demonstrate educational experience within a tertiary or clinical practice setting; Will have a sustained track record of research related activities within a tertiary education or clinical practice setting; and Will demonstrate a sound professional and academic track record in nursing or midwifery.

The first part is a statement (maximum 4 pages) that clearly demonstrates your suitability for the role of Associate Professor / Professor and Associate Dean Midwifery and the difference you will make to the School in this role. You should highlight key examples of your experience and expertise, enabling the selection committee to assess your application against the criteria above.

The second part is a statement (maximum 1 page) that addresses the ongoing contribution you will make as a senior academic and how you see yourself within the School’s research programs.

The third part is a detailed curriculum vitae, including summaries of the key academic leadership roles you have held or hold currently.
