Wagga Wagga Civic Theatre is offering six (6) places in our school work experience program to be held over the week 8 - 12 September 2025.

About The Program

The work experience program is available for six (6) individual school students who will take part in group activities.

The program covers event and venue management, ticketing, marketing and sound/lighting design.

Over the course of the week, the group will rotate through all departments within the Civic Theatre.

Using all of the resources and skills they learn in each department the students project for the week is to create their own event in theory.

On their final day (Friday), the students take over the theatre stage, working with our techs to present their events to the Civic Theatre team in the afternoon.

How to Apply

  • Complete the Work Experience Request Form and a Cover Letter.
  • Liaise with your School's Careers Advisor / Student Coordinator to complete the Work Experience Request Form and provide a recommendation.
  • Please note, all applications MUST include a current copy of the learning institution's (school) public liability insurance covering the student for the duration of the placement. For students under the age of eighteen (18), a parental/guardian signature is required on the request form.
  • Applications close Monday, 30 June 2025. Students will be advised if they have been successful by Friday, 11 July 2025.

Application Process

Upon submission, Work Experience Request Forms will be forwarded to Council's People & Culture Division.

The People & Culture Division will review all requests and forward to the Civic Theatre for consideration.

A council representative may contact the Careers Advisor / Student Coordinator to discuss the application.

Upon consideration, the learning institution (school) will be notified of the outcome via email. It is the responsibility of the Careers Advisor / Student Coordinator to liaise with the student regarding the placement outcome.

If approved, prior to commencing their placement students will be required to contact their placement supervisor to confirm work arrangements.

Important note

The Civic Theatre Work Experience Program is highly sought after. Applications are assessed on genuine interest in theatre operations as detailed in the student's Cover Letter and Career Advisor's recommendation. Unfortunately, the Civic Theatre is not able to facilitate individual, department-specific work experience.
