We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Yard Supervisor to join our dynamic team in the Wollongong region. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing yard operations, ensuring the efficient handling and storage of materials, and maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
- Supervising, leading, and assisting plant operators and the loading and unloading of delivery trucks.
- Signalling operators and drivers to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
- Cleaning and preparing the yard to eliminate possible hazards.
- Providing general ad hoc assistance and supervision
- Visual lookout or delegation of visual lookout for operators while machinery is in operation.
- Constant visual lookout for all other people in the work site/zone.
- Constant monitoring of machinery for broken or potentially faulty parts or equipment.
- Safe operation of plant and equipment.
- Securing loads to be lifted, ensuring items are not loose or dangerous, and ensuring lifting equipment is compliant.
- Sourcing tools and equipment for the work sites.
- Safe storage of tools, equipment, and materials.
- Ensuring all workers are carrying out tasks safely
- Ensuring machines and equipment are maintained as per the operator's manual.
- Ensuring appropriatePPE is worn at all times.
- Ensuring all chemicals are used correctly and the Safety Data Sheet is available.
- Ensuring the correct fluids are placed in the appropriate machines (e.g., oils, lubricants, and fuels)
- Yard Manager: Reporting, coordination, administration of duties, tasks, and responsibilities.
- Plant Operator: Assistance and lookout for the operator at all times while the machine is in operation.
- Other Labourers: General ad-hoc supervision and assistance on site.
- Foreman: Leading hand/foreman duties.
- Construction Manager: Assistance as required and directed.
- HR/Finance Manager: Liaise for information pertaining to payroll or other staff requirements.
- Clients: Provide assistance and direction as required on site.
- Suppliers: Provision of goods/equipment as needed or as directed by the foreman.
- Subcontractors: Work with and direct as required on site.
- Construction materials: Understanding of various construction materials and their proper handling and storage.
- Equipment operation: Skilled in operating various types of equipment and performing routine maintenance.
- Safety regulations: Knowledge of safety regulations and protocols for construction sites.
- Project management: Ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Communication skills: Ability to convey technical information and instructions clearly.
- Problem-solving: Ability to identify issues and implement solutions quickly and efficiently.
- Communication: Communicate clearly and effectively with workers, clients, engineers, and inspectors.
- Empathy: Demonstrate empathy towards workers and listen to their concerns.
- Time management: Manage time effectively and prioritise tasks.
- Ensuring all chemicals are used correctly and the Safety Data Sheet is available.
