Sedgman is proud to offer the position of Manager of Electrical and Instrumentation to join our team in Brisbane. In this role you will coordinate and direct the Electrical Engineering and Instrumentation function across our mineral processing projects and supporting site infrastructure in prefeasibility studies, design and delivery.
The role will require but not be limited to:
- Co-ordinate project electrical and instrumentation design activities to ensure the delivery of quality, safety, profit, client and team satisfaction objectives.
- Supervise the work of subordinate Design Engineers and Designer/Drafting staff to ensure compliance with technical and Sedgman standards.
- Lead with integrity and accountability, performance managing, mentoring, coaching, training, recruiting and retaining fulfilled and high performing team members.
- Select and manage the performance of external electrical and instrumentation consultants.
- Prepare budgets, time schedules and resourcing of work and HSE systems for management approval and manage assigned projects for quality and change.
- Participate in the development and continuous improvement of the quality management process and provide vision for Sedgman lead at the forefront of innovation.
- Support Project Development activities through the concept setting and review process, and communication with existing and potential clients.
- Work closely with the other Engineering Discipline Managers to ensure a united multidiscipline approach to providing engineering salutation and resolving complex problems.
- Drive collaboration with Sedgman business units (including business development, projects, commissioning, operations) and regional engineering groups ensuring consistent, quality and appropriate engineering outcomes.
- Use effective interpersonal skills in working with others to build successful working relationships.
- Networking through the industry to ensure existing contacts are maintained and new contacts are made as the industry changes.

What are we looking for?
- Bachelor of Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in design/consultancy environment in engineering capacity
- Coal and/or Metals and Minerals Processing industry experience
- Experience in leading and managing technical/project teams
- Experience in heavy industry environment
- Strong technical foundation in Electrical and Instrumentation design, specification and procurement management include HV, LV and ELV power distribution and motor control.
- Understand key electrical engineering design activities including Hazardous Area, Functional Safety, Lightning Protection, Lighting and Power system studies.
Desired skills, knowledge and experience:
- RPEQ and/or CPENG and/or P.Eng accreditation
- Experience in project management
- Skills in MS Office suite
