About the Role
The Lecturer in Medical Education (Physiology) will contribute to excellence in teaching and learning across the suite of medical bioscience topics in the College of Medicine and Public Health. The Lecturer in Medical Education (Physiology) will be responsible for making an independent contribution to teaching and the scholarship of teaching using innovations in teaching practices and technologies to deliver excellence in teaching.
The key position responsibilities of the position will include, but are not limited to:
Creating, coordinating and conducting inspiring teaching, informed by approaches that enhance the student experience, with a focus on physiology, across all levels and modes of the College. Contributing to the planning and evaluation of these topics and undertaking the role of Topic Coordinator, Block Lead, Theme Lead or Course Coordinator as required. Making an independent contribution to the review, renewal, development and design of curricula and courses that are attractive to existing and new cohorts of students and that nurture creativity and critical-thinking skills. Providing support, academic counselling and professional advice to students concerning their studies, professional development, and career opportunities.About You
The successful candidate will demonstrate their experience of delivering excellence in relevant teaching across medical education and/or health topics at a tertiary level. This will include evidence of using learning and teaching approaches which enhance student success.
The other key position capabilities of the successful candidate will include, but is not limited to:
Discipline-specific knowledge in medical year 1 and 2 subject areas (foundational biosciences), with a focus on the physiology discipline. Evidence of successful and independent innovation in learning and teaching delivery or design. Completion of a PhD (in a discipline area related to physiology), EdD, or equivalent qualification in Medicine or Health. Evidence of professional development in higher education teaching. Demonstrated contribution to academic quality assurance processes, such as topic or course reviews. Demonstrated experience or capability to engage with students (and deliver teaching modules) via online learning platforms.
