About the Role
Working under general supervision, the Senior Alliance Support Officer plays a pivotal role in driving impactful research and championing advancements in the ageing sector. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating, developing and improving an array of complex administrative, research support, and organisational functions to support the Alliance Directors and the Flinders Ageing Research Alliance.
This role is also responsible for:
- Advising Alliance Members in relation to competitive research grant opportunities and development of high-quality applications.

Research Development and Support (RDS) works with Flinders researchers, Colleges, Centres and Institutes, other portfolios, and external stakeholders to proactively support our research. Our teams underpin Flinders’ research evolving from ideas through to impact. RDS is part of the Portfolio of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and provides excellence in all facets of research management and promoting Flinders’ research.
About You
Your well-developed communication skills both written and verbal, enable you to prepare correspondence, agendas, minutes, briefs and other documents, highlighting your significant experience in the provision of high-level administrative services.
With previous experience working with confidential and sensitive manners whilst utilising judgement, initiative and confidentiality, you continuously provide high-level support for the activities of the leadership team.
Working within a team and autonomously, you have exemplary organisation and time management skills, along with precise attention detail, which allows you the capability to manage and maintain multiple priorities, whilst achieving positive outcomes.
You will also be able to demonstrate:
Commitment to high quality outcomes, including an attention to detail, the ability to collate and analyse information from a wide range of sources, and an ability to relate tasks to the wider context. Significant problem-solving capabilities and the ability to work with broad supervision to determine and prioritise tasks and meet deadlines Relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent combination of experience and/or education and/or training. Experience supporting tender submissions and national research grant applications, particularly pre-award and post-award research grant administration in an Australian university research office or similar environment.Life at Flinders
