Who We Are Looking For:

We’re looking for a hands-on, enthusiastic and resourceful Art Department Assistant to join our creative studio team working across our YouTube entertainment content. This is a multifaceted role perfect for someone who loves making things – whether it’s painting a miniature model, decorating a set, sewing a costume, or getting stuck into makeup looks

You’ll be working in a fast-paced, professionally run broadcast studio, where no two days are the same – so an eye for detail, strong organisation, and a proactive mindset are essential. If you’re a maker at heart, full of ideas but also ready to roll up your sleeves and learn on the job, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation, decoration and detailing of tabletop models, using paint, resins, props, and other materials.
  • Sew, alter, and maintain costumes and wardrobe items in line with character briefs and production needs.
  • Support basic makeup and character looks during shoots when needed, including special effects or face paint.
  • Help source, prep, and organise props, set dressing and wardrobe for shoots in advance.
  • Work closely with the Studio Manager, Production Assistants, Set Designers & Creative teams to execute creative visions for sets, models and characters.
  • Maintain a well-organised and tidy art department workspace, including inventory and supplies.
  • Ensure all tools, materials and spaces are used safely, adhering to OH&S protocols and reporting any hazards.
  • Adapt designs or builds on the fly during production, troubleshooting creatively under time pressure.
  • Support setup and pack-down of sets, props, costumes and makeup before and after filming.
  • Contribute ideas and feedback in creative meetings, and bring a solution-focused mindset to challenges.

Key Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in crafting, model making, painting, or set decorating (professional or personal projects welcome).
  • Basic sewing and garment construction skills, ideally with experience in costume design or wardrobe assistance.
  • Familiarity with basic makeup techniques, including face paint, character looks or SFX makeup.
  • Demonstrated creativity and a strong visual eye, with attention to detail and care in finish.
  • Organised and methodical, able to juggle multiple tasks and meet production timelines.
  • Comfortable working in a professional studio environment, ideally with some broadcast or film/TV experience.
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety, particularly when working with tools, materials, or during set construction.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills, comfortable collaborating with a wide range of creatives.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn, with a growth mindset and proactive energy.
  • Flexible and adaptable, ready to take on new challenges, change direction quickly, and pitch in wherever needed.

Our Offer

If you’re excited to bring creative ideas to life working with some of the most-loved content on the internet that brings smiles to millions of children across the globe; then what are you waiting for? We really love working here, and we think you will too! Apply now!
