The Role

As an Environmental Health Officer, you will play a vital role in promoting public health and ensuring compliance with environmental health legislation. You'll conduct inspections, investigate complaints, and implement programs to protect and enhance community wellbeing. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting statutory inspections, investigating complaints, and initiating enforcement actions as required.
  • Managing food safety programs, including sampling, compliance reporting, and community education initiatives.
  • Investigating public health concerns, including nuisances, infectious diseases, and wastewater management.
  • Supporting the development and review of Council's Health and Wellbeing and Emergency Management Plans

We're seeking an Environmental Health professional with:

  • A Degree/Diploma in Applied Science, Environmental Health, or Public Health.
  • A Certificate of Competency from the Victorian Health Department.

While experience as an Environmental Health Officer in a regional local government is preferred, we also welcome candidates with relevant or similar experience. Knowledge in key areas such as food safety, public health and wellbeing, onsite wastewater management, tobacco control, aquatic facilities, and complaint investigation will set you up for success in this role.
