The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia's largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.
About the Role:
We are seeking a permanent, part-time 32hrs/week , values-driven Case Worker to join our AOD team in Townsville or Rowes Bay, QLD .
Reporting to the AOD Team Leader you will be responsible for providing effective service delivery and ensuring case management, assessment and referral, education and support are provided in accordance with The Salvation Army guidelines (within a comprehensive participant-led, recovery-based framework).
Salary in accordance with SCHADS Level 4 Award.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide efficient day to day service delivery through education, interventions, group work, assessment, referral and case work within a recovery-orientated and person-led service environment
  • Develop and monitor individual treatment plans and maintain case management documentation, records, reports and data collection, utilising established case planning procedures
  • Undertake ad hoc duties as requested by the Manager, Program Manager, or Senior Case Worker
  • Demonstrate commitment to an environment that values continuous improvement and innovation in the delivery of high quality services
  • Acquire and maintain a good working knowledge of referral and support options for participants


About you:

  • Minimum of Diploma level qualification in a relevant discipline (AOD, Community Services, Case Management)
  • Completed 4 AOD Skill Set Units (or willing to undertake/complete during employment)
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with unpredictable situations and behaviours utilising de-escalation techniques
  • At least two years' experience in recovery, if applicable
  • Sound computer literacy
  • Ability to critically reflect on professional practice and attitudes
  • Ability to develop and tailor programs to meet participants' needs
