We are currently seeking applications for a full time Project Manager to join the Financial Accounting, Shared Services SA team at The Department of Treasury & Finance for a period of 12 months.


Remuneration:
ASO8 – Salary Range $121,107 - $125,679 p.a. (+11.5% Superannuation)


About the opportunity:

Financial Accounting provide statutory reporting, reconciliations, general ledger, payroll interface, fixed asset services and associated advice to a wide range of Government agencies and therefore, play a crucial role in the success of the Finance Reform Program (FRP). The FRP will replace the Government’s main financial management system (FMS), Masterpiece with the new Oracle system and reform finance for the State. The existing system, used by the majority of SA Government agencies (excluding SA Health), was implemented 30 years ago, and is reaching the end of its useful life.

The Project Manager will report to the Director Financial Accounting and undertake a lead role on behalf of Financial Accounting in the FRP being led by Shared Services SA. The implementation of Oracle as the new contemporary FMS, and best practice processes, will fundamentally change the way finance activities are performed across all in-scope Agencies and impact a broad range of stakeholders, including financial, ICT and operational teams.

About you

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Demonstrated ability and experience in effectively leading and undertaking complex projects that have critical importance and significant impact on organisational objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, prioritising, and organising work for self and others to achieve goals and meet deadlines, including dealing with competing demands and managing multiple project tasks in a complex environment.
  • Demonstrated success in forging successful collaborations, networks and working relationships, engaging with agency representatives, managing stakeholders, and negotiating to achieve the best outcome.
  • Commitment to financial accounting and management practices/compliance, including a strong understanding of accounting standards and related government frameworks and their application in a government context.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, including experience in presenting status reporting to Senior Management and established project governance groups.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management methodologies and the ability to convey this knowledge to others.
  • Proven ability to work under broad direction, exercise significant levels of independent judgement and work with agility across competing and tight deadlines to deliver quality outcomes for stakeholders in a dynamic environment.
  • Degree level qualifications in accounting, finance, economics (or equivalent) and eligibility for membership to a professional accounting body (desirable)
