Forensic and Secure Services provides specialist secure rehabilitation and forensic mental health services including: High Security Inpatient Service (70 bed), Extended Forensic Treatment Rehabilitation Unit (20 bed), Secure Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit (34 bed), Prison Mental Health Services (9 Correctional Centres), General Health Service, Specialist Mental Health Intellectual Disability Service (SMHIDS),Central Staffing Office. Forensic mental health services provide assessment and treatment of people with a mental disorder and a history of criminal offending, or those who are at risk of offending. • Multiple Permanent Full-time opportunities available!

About the role

Supporting a registered nurse in the provision of person and family centred, quality, safe patient care specified by the standards of practice and registration from the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). This care will be evidenced by educational preparation, adhering to relevant legislation and context of care.

The Enrolled Nurse will:

a) Practice under the direct or indirect supervision of a registered nurse assisting with the care and as delegated by the registered nurse.

b) Seeks assistance and support in decision making from a registered nurse.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Contemporary clinical knowledge and Mental Health experience or a passion to learn and work with Mental Health patient groups
  • Willing to take instructions and guidance from other team members and a willingness to help and support others to contribute to the successful functioning of the team.
  • Consistent delivery of a high level of services to patients, parents, caregivers and families, demonstrating rapport building skills, listening skills and empathy.
  • Ability to coordinate and deliver quality nursing care, whilst working within a risk management framework and in accordance with professional standards (eg. infection control, Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia, and Codes & Competency Standards.
  • Honesty, integrity and respect for all patients, carers and staff.
  • High level of communication skills and ability to escalate issues to a Registered Nurse.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
