THE ROLEReporting to the Media Manager, this role is responsible for developing and executing media strategies for high-profile housing projects and programs. The position leads proactive media initiatives, manages responses to media inquiries, and designs effective media strategies for a variety of complex and significant housing projects, including Melbourne's High-rise Redevelopment Program, the landmark Big Housing Build, and the Regional Housing Fund.
The role will handle multiple, intricate, and sensitive media issues across housing projects, programs, and policies, working closely with teams to create compelling media content for diverse purposes and audiences.
Collaborating with colleagues across the branch, the minister's office, and key business areas within the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, the role ensures that media materials and strategies are clear, engaging, and timely, and aligned with strategic priorities.
As needed, the role may also be called upon to participate in out-of-hours media and emergency rosters, offering support during public emergencies, large-scale communications campaigns, and other high-priority projects to contribute to the effective management of the department's work.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
* Provide media relations advice and direction to internal stakeholders, influencing the development of media strategies. Oversee the production and delivery of materials to support departmental and ministerial events, ensuring they align with strategic goals.
* Work collaboratively across the department to create effective media materials, ensuring high written and visual standards. Ensure all materials comply with departmental and Victorian Government guidelines, contributing to the success of media campaigns.
* Provide authoritative media expertise and advice to stakeholders. Identify and capitalise on positive media opportunities across traditional and digital platforms, while managing risks and addressing contentious issues with expert advice and tactical solutions.
