About us:

Central Queensland Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Service (CQMHAODS) provides specialist mental health, substance and alcohol related care to residents of Rockhampton, Capricorn Coast, Gladstone, Central Highlands and Banana areas (catchments in excess of a population of 250,000) with services located in each area.

Rockhampton as the principal service centre provides the administration of the Mental Health Act, 2016, and is the location of the acute adult inpatient facilities. In addition, there is a Adult Step Up Step Down facility located in Gladstone and a Community Care Unit located in Rockhampton.

About the role:

  • Connect to consumers, carers and staff providing a positive example of recovery and as a source of information on their personal experience of managing their mental health.
  • Drawing on mutual resources as peers and utilising a range of recovery tools, techniques and experience, support consumers to identify their own achievable and meaningful recovery goals, and with planning to make positive changes to achieve these.
  • Support mental health consumer education within a framework of psycho education that meets the needs of consumers.
  • Support psycho education programs and peer-based consumer support groups.
  • Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to support to build the functions and capacity for service to mental health consumers.
  • Involvement in the collection of consumer and carer feedback as required.
  • Actively contribute to maintaining a safe workplace and culture that values the health and safety of co-workers, clients, and visitors.
  • Actively participate in the Performance and Development process.

About you:

  • There are no mandatory qualifications/requirements for this role.
  • Obtain or working towards a Certificate Ill in Mental Health Peer Work or equivalent is highly desirable.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $48,828 is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $38.81 - $43.16 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
