About the role

This role is part of the St Vincent’s Private Hospital Lismore catering team and reports directly to our Hospitality Services Manager.

In this role you will provide kitchen hand services and cook support as required. Excellent customer service, communication, teamwork, quality care, and food safety are all essential in this role, with your everyday tasks including:

  • Working as part of a positive, well-oiled team to prepare and serve high quality food to patients, residents, and employees across the St Vincent’s campus
  • Maintaining excellent food safety standards in all aspects of food preparation, storage, and delivery
  • Cleaning work benches, cool rooms and equipment in line with all relevant safety guidelines, and reporting defects, maintenance, and safety issues as they arise
  • Packing away deliveries

We have permanent and casual opportunities available working on a rotating roster, based at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Lismore campus.

Your skills & experience

  • Excellent time management skills, including being able to get to work on time and meet all food prep, cleaning and delivery schedules for a large commercial kitchen.
  • Exceptional people skills including the ability to communicate with a diverse range of patients, residents, caregivers and staff;
  • Knowledge of food safety principles or willingness to learn;
  • Previous experience in a commercial cooking setting with a formal qualification relevant to the hospitality field highly regarded.
  • Able to undertake labour intensive and physically demanding cleaning and lifting duties within the kitchen and catering space.
  • Previous hospitality experience desired, but not essential;
  • Flexible and available to work all shifts on a rotating roster.
