About the role
We have a permanent opportunity for a Principal Engineer joining our engineering team, you’ll undertake a quality planning, definition and verification coordination service for an electrical compliance function and provide centre of expertise technical support and advice for operational infrastructure assets. Based in our Leederville office, this role will be reporting to our Team Leader - Mechanical & Electrical Field Support.

What the role will involve
- Develop, maintain and manage Water Corporation’s processes, systems, standards and procedures for high voltage switching practices to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Provide expert advice to and liaise with internal customers, external suppliers, service agencies, consultants, industry regulators and agencies in relation to High Voltage electrical compliance
- Represent Water Corporation in consultations and negotiations with the regulator and network operators in relation to High Voltage Electrical Compliance
- Undertake and coordinate complex investigations, conceptual planning and financial analysis for assessment, development and remedial works of operational infrastructure assets
- Provide expert engineering advice in relation to the performance of operational infrastructure assets
- Provide specialist technical input to the development and review of our procedures, guidelines and standards for electrical infrastructure assets
- Provide advice and consultancy in relation to the definition, design, procurement and close out of major projects electrical power, control, power instrumentation and high voltage projects
Key skills and experience
You’ll hold a degree level qualification in electrical engineering, along with experience with high voltage assets designs and maintenance, Previous accredited training in HV switching is highly desirable. You’ll also have knowledge of water related infrastructure assets, electrical networks, overhead / underground HV operation and maintenance, and application of indoor and overhead HV switch operations. Your demonstrated leadership skills ability to collaborate, negotiate and influence both senior internal and external stakeholders will ensure success in this role.
