About the role
We're seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to join the team at Sydney Airport and play a key role in shaping how we deliver procurement excellence across a diverse portfolio of projects. In this role, you’ll develop and lead procurement strategies that support the efficient and high-quality delivery of operational initiatives. As a trusted partner to senior leaders and project teams, you’ll bring commercial insight, best practice governance, and innovative thinking to drive value, manage risk, and support the successful execution of projects from planning through to contract implementation.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-impact, future-focused environment where your expertise will make a tangible difference. Beyond project delivery, you’ll also help uplift procurement capability across the business by designing and delivering training programs that empower teams and embed consistency. Whether your background is in infrastructure, services, technology, or other industries, we’re looking for a passionate professional who thrives on collaboration, continuous improvement, and making a meaningful impact through strategic procurement.
In this role you have an opportunity to
- Develop and deliver procurement strategies that align with Sydney Airport’s business objectives, supporting the successful delivery of a wide range of operational and capital projects.
- Manage the full contract lifecycle—from market analysis and tender development through to negotiation, award, and contract implementation—ensuring value for money and quality outcomes.
- Provide expert commercial and contract advice to stakeholders, resolving supplier issues and supporting effective delivery throughout the life of the contract.
- Identify and build strong supplier and contractor networks, driving performance and ensuring the right capabilities are in place to meet project needs.
- Analyse spend and market trends to inform procurement planning, identify risks and opportunities, and maintain competitive strategies across assigned categories.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by streamlining procurement systems, tools and templates, and promoting effective governance without unnecessary complexity.
- Support performance monitoring and reporting across key suppliers and contracts to ensure visibility and continual improvement.
- Deliver training and support to uplift procurement capability across teams, fostering consistent and best-practice procurement and supplier management approaches.
About you
- Proven experience delivering successful procurement outcomes across complex projects, with expertise in either capital or operational expenditure categories.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to develop category strategies, streamline processes, and drive long-term value through strategic sourcing and supplier management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead end-to-end procurement activities, including contract negotiation, stakeholder engagement, and supplier performance management.
- Skilled in building collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholder groups and engaging with influence at all levels of the organisation.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills, with the ability to present insights and recommendations clearly and influence others.
- A continuous improvement mindset with the agility to adapt, challenge the status quo, and find smarter ways of working.
- Experience developing and delivering training or capability uplift initiatives in procurement and contract management is an advantage.
- Tertiary qualifications in procurement, supply chain, construction management, engineering, or a related field are desirable.
