The RPA Department of Rheumatology is pleased to announce the inaugural Jane Bleasel RPA Rheumatology Research Scholarship, offering two competitive research awards. These scholarships, which include clinical privileges, are designed to support the department's research program and clinical care initiatives.
Each scholarship is for a duration of 12 months. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to pursue or continue a higher degree by research, contribute to the department's research interests, support patient care at RPA Rheumatology, and collaborate closely with the RPA Institute for Academic Medicine on research education.
What you'll be doing
The Jane Bleasel RPA Rheumatology Research Scholarship is a competitive research award coupled with clinical privileges to assist the Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) Hospital Rheumatology Department with its research program and clinical care. The appointment will be offered during the 12-month duration of the Jane Bleasel RPA Rheumatology Research Scholarship .
The successful candidate will pursue or continue the completion of a higher degree by research, contribute to department research interests, work closely with the RPA Institute for Academic Medicine on research education and assist the RPA Rheumatology Department in research and patient care.
The Provisional Fellow will practice under the supervision and direction of the Head of the RPA Department Rheumatology or delegate in relation to both research and routine medical assessment for patients being treated at RPA Hospital.
The Fellow will undertake high quality research in the clinical conditions listed as part of the clinical and translational research of the RPA Department of Rheumatology. They will ensure high standards of professional performance and contribute to an academic environment supportive of education, research and professional development.

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Enrolment as an Advanced Trainee in the training program of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in the discipline of Rheumatology, following successful completion of the RACP Divisional Clinical Exam.
- Be eligible for, enrolled in or have completed, their advanced training qualifications in Rheumatology with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) within a five-year period.
- Be eligible or enrolled in higher degree studies relevant to the practice of Rheumatology.
- Demonstrated experience and commitment to the conduct of high integrity and collaborative clinical research. Experience in research techniques relevant to Rheumatology medicine.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Demonstrated current clinical practice of a high standard and ability to adapt clinical practice in accordance with contemporary evidence based best practice.
- Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with other staff and practitioners and in a multidisciplinary health care team.
