About The RoleWe are seeking an experienced and passionate Commercial Cookery Teacher to join our team, delivering the nationally recognised Certificate III in Commercial Cookery at our Echuca campus. In this role, you will train the next generation of commercial cooks, working in our fully operational licensed training restaurant and providing students with the practical skills and knowledge needed for successful careers in the hospitality industry.
Key Responsibilities
Design and deliver engaging learning programs for Certificate III in Commercial CookeryTeach practical food production techniques, kitchen operations, hygiene, menu costing, OHS, and basic nutritionAssess student competency through written, oral, and practical assessment methodsGuide students through mandatory work placement requirements (48 service periods)Support apprentice and non-apprentice students in their learning journeyMaintain currency with industry standards and practices in commercial cookeryCollaborate with industry partners to ensure training meets workplace needsEnsure compliance with food safety standards and OHS requirementsParticipate in course evaluation and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent)Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or higher qualificationPrevious teaching or mentoring experience in a vocational settingStrong knowledge of Australian cuisine, international cooking techniques, and food trendsDemonstrated experience in preparing various meats (including game and offal) and seafood dishesCurrent Working with Children CheckPhysical fitness suitable for demonstration and instruction in a kitchen environment
