About the role
The Nurse Educator is a Registered Nurse with advanced skills, knowledge and expertise in adult education frameworks, clinical development, coordination, and evaluation of nursing education programs. The Nurse Educator demonstrates expertise and leadership skills within the domain of education to support a culture of development and enquiry, which promotes clinical, professional, and organisational learning with a Supported Practice Framework.
As a member of the Medical Education team, the Principal Medical Education Officer will provide educational expertise and leadership in the delivery of medical education to prevocational medical graduates, while ensuring ongoing training accreditation requirements are met, in accordance with District, Divisional and Departmental goals.
The Nurse Educator – Medical Education Unit (MEU) is accountable at an advanced practice level for the identification, development, planning, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of clinical learning opportunities to support clinicians in providing evidence-based and contemporary patient care.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing education programs, assessment procedures and simulation activities,
- Experience in undertaking learning needs analysis, developing contemporary and innovative educational materials and utilising adult educational frameworks to engage and foster a learning culture within the clinical environment.
- Demonstrated advanced capability and level of knowledge of clinical simulation as a learning methodology.
- Knowledge and application of, or the ability to acquire knowledge of, curriculum and prevocational and accreditation standards for medical education programs.
- Proven ability to work autonomously and as an effective team member.
- Demonstrated ability to use advanced communication skills to consult, negotiate, educate and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and reasoning, advanced problem skills and expert clinical judgement.
- Demonstrated high level of clinical practice and expertise in adult education within the current legislative and policy context.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
