About the Role:

JR Richards is seeking a dedicated and experienced Driver Trainer to join our team. In this critical role, you will ensure our drivers are trained to the highest standards, capable of safely operating our heavy vehicles, and able to deliver efficient waste management services to municipal, commercial, renewable, and industrial customers. You will work alongside operational managers to support and ensure driver competency, safety, and compliance with JRR policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Training & Competency: Work closely with operational managers to train and assess drivers on the safe operation of heavy vehicles and plant equipment (e.g., front-end loaders, excavators, skid steers).
  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all driver training and assessments are properly logged, maintained, and compliant with company, regulatory, and safety standards.
  • Onboarding Support: Assist with the onboarding process, ensuring new drivers and operational staff are properly trained and meet compliance standards.
  • Refresher Training: Support ongoing refresher training programs and ensure all training records are up to date.
  • Safety & Risk Assessments: Conduct plant risk assessments and participate in incident investigations, providing feedback and recommendations for preventive measures.
  • Training Package Development: Develop and update training packages in alignment with company, manufacturer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Team Collaboration: Engage in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and regular communication with internal teams to ensure a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Management: Maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, such as operations, maintenance, and supervisory teams.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in driving heavy vehicles (Heavy Rigid license required).
  • Cert IV in Training & Assessment is a must for delivering and assessing training.
  • Previous experience in the waste management industry is preferred but not essential.
  • Knowledge and understanding of NHVR legislation .
  • Strong administrative and communication skills , both written and verbal.
  • Ability to travel extensively across NSW as required.
  • High standards of customer service and safety awareness .
