About the role
We are currently recruiting a Cook to join our Banrock Station Restaurant and contribute to creating a diverse and exciting menu that reflects the local flavours of the Kingston on Murray region. Whether you're an experienced chef or a talented cook looking to step into a new challenge, this is an excellent opportunity to showcase your culinary skills and be part of a renowned destination in the heart of the vineyard.
This casual position has the flexibility to provide 2 or 3 shifts a week and potentially more depending on business demands . With dayshifts and an occasional evening shift or weekend shifts, this role can offer flexible hours which can work around other commitments.
Key responsibilities include:
• Assist with functions/events when required.
• Assist in stock count when required.
• Ensure preparation of food is completed to the required standard and timings.
• Ensure timely delivery of food as well as finished product that meets or exceeds the guest’s expectations.
• Inform the person placing orders of any ingredients, menu components, cleaning materials etc. need replenishing.
• Put away deliveries and check off against packing slips/invoices and inform of any discrepancies.
• Always be conscious of the need to control food operating costs and keep them to a minimum.
• Monitor and ensure correct food handling, storage and portion control in order to effectively maintain desired food cost.
• Ensure all kitchen equipment is correctly used and maintained.
• Assist in washing dishes when necessary.
• Attend meetings as required.
• Clean agreed designated areas, in accordance with procedures, morning/evening routines and hygiene requirements
What you’ll bring:
• Previous kitchen experience in a restaurant and/or function environment
• Certificate II or III Commercial Cookery (highly desired)
• Responsible Service of Alcohol (highly desired)
• Controlled behaviour when working under pressure.
• Communicate in a clear and courteous manner.
• Display a keen and positive attitude towards your role.
• Work well with people who have different styles and skills.
• Organisational skills
• Leadership skills
• Work well autonomously and as part of a team.
• Must have drivers Licence
