Being a Trainee Technical Officer at Thales, you’ll have a job that matters to us, to you and to everyone. Over our 4-year program you will have the chance to learn the technicalities of your career with an RTO and then apply this within a supportive work environment whilst you learn on the job. We can provide the challenges and opportunities, all you need to do is bring a willingness to learn!
What can you expect?
Working on Naval vessels you will gain experience repairing, installing, testing and commissioning a variety of electronics and mechanical equipment
You could find yourself:
-
Performing fault analysis of commercial and military electronics/mechanical weapons equipment and systems
-
Assisting in the installation of all types of naval equipment in shore and ship borne environments
-
Assisting with the repairs of combat and platform systems – think complex control system, radars, navigation, fire control, power generation, instrumentation, sensors and communication systems.

Working with various types of Electronic, Electrical and Electromechanical systems, conducting;
-
Fault finding, troubleshooting and repairs
-
System diagnostics
-
Installation, commissioning and calibration of systems and support networks
-
Interface, integration, installation and supporting designs

Perhaps you’ve completed an apprenticeship or traineeship but you are looking to move laterally, and working in complex electronics systems interests you.
Experience
To succeed in the role, the following would be considered favourably
-
A trade certificate or equivalent in a related field (electrical, electronics, communications, control systems, instrumentation, etc.) would be advantageous

Have had experience working and/or collaborating within a team environment
-
Have great communication skills and enjoy interacting with different groups of people
-
Demonstrated electronics/electrical and/or technical aptitude

As a Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.
