The term of appointment is linked to a commonwealth funding grant, however, there is possibility for extensions aligned to future funding also being renewed.
The Person
We have an exciting opportunity to join our new University Department of Rural Health South West. We welcome applications from existing health care academics, and/or experienced health care professionals from all health disciplines including nursing and midwifery, medicine, and all allied health disciplines including pharmacy, dentistry, speech pathology, physiotherapy, social work, OT, etc. You will have access to mentoring and support from our Director, Professor Beth Armstrong, to help you develop into the role. We are ideally seeking the following experience, and particularly welcome applications from local South West health care professionals with rural health experience, who may be considering a new professional career.
  1. Professional qualification and practical experience in a health-related field (Nursing/Midwifery will be given special consideration), ideally in a rural, remote or Aboriginal context and/or a record of academic achievement in a health-related field of relevance to rural, remote or Aboriginal populations
  2. Higher degree by research such as Masters, PhD is desirable but not essential
  3. Prior experience in the development or delivery of tertiary education and/or professional development programs
  4. Experience in Clinical Supervision
  5. Other capabilities as highlighted in the Role Capability Statement available on ECU Jobs website

The Role
You will work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team established to develop an innovative program of education, service, partnership and real-world research for a range of health disciplines that support the South West community health needs and contribute to rural workforce demands. Engagement with communities and service providers across the South West is an integral part of the job. Providing students with experiences in a wide range of health contexts and tailoring student education to meet the identified needs of rural and remote communities will be a focus. You will also be responsible for managing a small team of clinicians whose role is to network within their disciplines, assist in the facilitation of placements and supervise students.

This full-time fixed term position (external grant funded until 31 December 2026) attracts remuneration of circa $113,918 - $134,596 plus 17% University superannuation contribution (and relocation costs).
