About the role and team

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate to join our Corporate & Commercial team in Sydney. This role will be working with a highly regarded Partner who leads the NSW branch of our China Desk. The role will involve working on international and domestic M&A, with an emphasis on cross-border transactions, joint ventures, acquisition and disposal of businesses and assets and regulatory approvals (including FIRB approvals).

This is a fantastic hands-on corporate & commercial role, with significant learning, development and progression opportunities, and the opportunity to work with interesting clients. About you

You will ideally have the following skills and experience:
  • five years or plus of post admission experience gained in a corporate & commercial practice;
  • experience advising on key matters relating to corporate/M&A including due diligence, drafting & negotiating acquisition documents
  • experience in regulatory approvals including FIRB;
  • experience with corporate restructuring and corporate governance;
  • some experience of licensing and general contracting arrangements;
  • experience in domestic and international corporate/M&A matters is desirable;
  • experience supervising and mentoring juniors;
  • Mandarin language capability (fluent or conversational) is desirable.
  • highly developed legal and research skills; and
  • experience with an international or large national firm is desirable;
