Role Description:
The Underwriting Team Manager will oversee the daily operations of a well structured underwriting team of 5
- Ensuring consistent, compliant and fit for purpose risk assessment undereriting of the team
- Managing and mentoring the unit of 5, setting performance goals.
- Collaborating with other departments such as the Distribution, Claims and Finance teams to support clients on their insurance coverage journey.
- You will be the referral point of escalation for things that arise and will naturally manage a small (yet the most complex) parts of the portfolio
- Managing upward you will report to the head of underwriting and other executive leaders to provide reporting and data of performance and outcomes
- You will help develop and grow potential, with room for further growth, your management will help lead the success of the business
- Longer term there will be opportunities to grow with natural success planning
- This is not just a role for now, but also for 4 to 5 years time.
Experience:
- Knowlege of commercial insurance and business pack products is a must - such as motor, property & ISR and Liability products
- Management or Leadership experience is preferred but not vital, if so things such as KPI management, development plans and reporting will be required
- Preferably an Underwriting Agency background
- 8 years minimum experience in the insurance industry
- Broker Distribution experience
- Stakeholder Relationship Management skills (internal and external)
- Business Development and Commerciality in your dealings
