For Visiting Medical Officers interested in the position, the expected sessional hours would be 940 hours per annum, in addition to reasonable on-call shared amongst your anaesthetic colleagues. Paediatric skills would be favourable. Zero hours relievers would also be considered.

Then you could be the perfect Anaesthetist to join the professionals at Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD). We’re looking for a qualified Anaesthetist who can:

  • Support the development of anaesthetic services
  • Support and facilitate a culture of learning and best practice
  • Support and develop anaesthesia research within the department
  • Commit to join our team for a minimum of two 10-hour shifts per week
  • Be confident working on a variety of cases including paediatric patients

A little about us.

Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital, located on Yuin Country, is the main acute care hospital for the Shoalhaven region, providing emergency care, medical, surgical and orthopaedic services. The hospital has an Intensive Care Unit focusing on high dependency and coronary patients, Children’s Ward and Maternity Unit, as well as a purpose-built regional Cancer Care Centre and sub-acute Mental Health Unit. With a significant redevelopment of the hospital currently underway and a strong focus on career development, there has never been a better time to join our progressive and growing team in the Shoalhaven.

Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital is a busy acute care facility with 211 beds, which provides emergency care, medical and surgical services to around 22,000 patients each year. This includes obstetric and paediatric services.

Shoalhaven Hospital is affiliated with the University of Wollongong and supports the training of Nursing, Medical and Allied Health staff. As such there are teaching and research opportunities through the UOW Graduate School of Medicine.

ISLHD leadership is strongly committed to facilitating clinical research. Tangible evidence of this commitment is the significant investment in the infrastructure to support research. ISLHD has a well- developed research support unit that offers staff an extensive range of research support services including: assistance in the development of the research study design, biostatistics support, data analysis, and help writing final research publications, as well assistance with the ethics and governance processes.
